They live day by day Often people consider themselves poor because they live pay check to paycheck, can't keep up with expenses such as car payments, housing or other debts. If these are your concerns then chances are your not poor but middle class.
What makes someone poor? they have no debts because they do not own a home or a car. Chances are they live in section 8 housing (low income housing subsidized by the government) and use public transportation. Few if any have bank accounts as there is a required minimum that they can't meet without paying a fee if they go below the monthly minimum.
They are at the mercy of using cash or going to places that will cash their check for an outrageous fee for doing so.
Often times those that are poor are not in these situations because they made bad choices. Granted we have those that are poor and on the streets because of drug/alcohol addiction which is a disease, others have a mental illness or are mentally challenged. Reasons beyond their control.
Middle class generally have poor spending habits. Money is spent on consumable items that depreciate in value. Many of the middle class do not delay gratification. Rather than living below their means the the middle class live beyond their means.
As with the poor the middle class, it may not have to do with bad choices. Unfortunately, the more financial means or education someone has the more connections and opportunities are available. It's a matter of learning about what outside fluences would improve our situation and looking for the opportunities that can move us in that direction.
Often we think that if we were rich our problems would be solved. Chasing after wealth will not solve problems. People don't necessarily want wealth. they want the comforts that come with it, such as health, spending time with loved ones, time to enjoy our lives without stress.
Most have gained their wealth by being frugal. They have learned to delay gratification now for better things later. They invest their money that increases their networth until they reach a point that they can buy the items they have always wanted.
Sometimes wealth has nothing to do with being frugal but being born into the right family or having the right connections. The royal family is a good example of old money and being born to the right family.
Being wealthy produces it's own problems of fake friends, fear of lawsuits or the kidnapping of our children.
Solving Class issues
Regardless of social class, poverty affects crime rates, violence and safety of all those around them. There are many countries that do not have these issues. This isn't a problem of the classes it's a problem of the system in place within a community and country. It's everyone's responsibility. If what we are doing as a community/country doesn't work, then we need to look to those that are successful, learning from what works. Watch for information from experts on how to deal with these issues.
